Like most other streaming services not owned by the House of Mouse, for example, there’s no really overarching theme to what HBO Max features, and that’s exactly why HBO Max represents such a strong push. It’s basically like Criterion Channel Lite in some of its more demanding corners. Apparently that’s a good thing: below you’ll find masterpiece after masterpiece from the likes of Stanley Kubrick, Agnes Varda, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Barbara Kopple, Jacques Demy, Akira Kurosawa, Maysles, Pennebaker, Ingmar Bergman, those who were in The Search After a crash course in world cinema, Turner can pretty much single-handedly thank the classic movies, which were pulled under the HBO banner, for the rewards they’re about to inhale. The best HBO Max movies reflect nothing but the pinnacle of our streaming dystopia. The studio behind The Dark Knight and Man of Steel offers a plethora of DC movies to stream. There’s a wide range of classics, relatively new releases, quirky indie movies, and, yes, superhero movies. In truth, the HBO Max movies available at launch are pretty impressive.
HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s streaming service that offers not only titles from pay-cable channel HBO, but also a variety of movies from the library of Warner Bros.
